Ursula LaMotte, a Republican, was elected to the Westchester County Board of Legislators in 1995. Legislator LaMotte represents the towns of Bedford, Pound Ridge, Lewisboro, North Salem, half of Somers and the Village of Mt. Kisco.

Prior to serving as a County Legislator, LaMotte served two terms as a Bedford Town Councilwoman. During that time, she also served as Deputy Town Supervisor.

LaMotte has also distinguished herself as an expert on environmental issues. She has served for seven years as a member of the Westchester County Planning Board. Her efforts as a Bedford Town Councilwoman led to the passage of landmark groundwater protection legislation, which was the first of its kind for any town in New York State. She also helped found the Pound Ridge Recycling Program and has served on the Pound Ridge Conservation Board.

Legislator LaMotte has been a resident of Westchester County for 39 years. She has lived in Bedford for the past 25 years; prior to that, she lived in Pound Ridge for 10 years. She is married with three children and three grandchildren. She attended Smith College and earned a BA degree in history from Pace University.

“I’ve been here my whole entire life, and I absolutely love the town. What I like about it best are the people who live here -- they’re very special, they love the town, and it’s fun to work here!”
